Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is reportedly ‘ready to leave’ the Premier League club so he can ‘establish himself as a number one’ elsewhere.
The 24-year-old signed for Liverpool in 2015 and he has been Alisson’s back-up in recent seasons.
Kelleher has not let Jurgen Klopp down when he has played but he has only featured 20 times for the Premier League club across all competitions. He has also played ten times for the Republic of Ireland since making his senior debut in 2021.
He has only played three times this season as Liverpool have endured a dreadful campaign. They are expected to overhaul their squad this summer, with one or two midfielders expected to be at the top of their wishlist.
But according to The Daily Mail, the Reds ‘want a new goalkeeper’ as Kelleher has made it clear that he is keen to move on in the summer. The report adds.
‘Liverpool are not just looking for midfielders this summer – they want a new goalkeeper with Caoimhin Kelleher ready to leave.
‘It’s no secret they would like Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount of Chelsea or Wolves’ Matheus Nunes. Even Arsenal target Moises Caicedo of Brighton has been discussed.
‘But they are looking for a keeper to compete with Allison Becker as highly-rated deputy Kelleher wants more regular football.
‘The 24-year-old has not let Jurgen Klopp down when called on and is at an age where he wants to establish himself as a number one in his own right.
‘He won’t be short of takers and Liverpool are looking to get their gloves on a new shot-stopper.’
As the report notes, Liverpool are looking at several midfielders and Birmingham City’s George Hall is one of the younger players they are looking at.
The 18-year-old has played 27 times in the Championship this term and he is attracting interest from clubs around Europe.
Back in February, it was reported that Liverpool were ‘seeking a pre-summer deal’ for Hall, who is due to be out of contract in 2024. The Daily Mail reveals they ‘scouted’ Hall over the weekend.
‘Leeds United and Liverpool scouts were at Birmingham City on Saturday to see teenager George Hall turn in a match-winning performance.
‘The 18-year-old midfielder was described as ‘awesome’ by manager John Eustace after he pulled the strings in a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.
‘It capped a fine week for Hall who played in three different positions while on duty for England U19s in their European Championship qualifiers last week.
‘He also grabbed a goal and assist in their 2-0 win over Turkey. Leeds are long-term admirers but rival Premier League sides plus clubs from Germany and Italy are now taking note.’
